A
doctor at a laboratory in the midwest was commissioned to create
an herbal blend of aphrodisiacs that would combine the most
effective herbs available, creating a single "super aphrodisiac".
As time passed, the laboratory became impatient, asking for
a formula they could take to market. The doctor quit and continued
his half-finished research with two scientists from an east
coast lab.
By summer of 2001, after years of studies and focus groups using
countless combinations of herbs, the trio had finally perfected
the mixture. The only problem was the mixture contained standard
doses of no less than 15 herbs. To make a capsule that would
be an effective dose, it would have to be 7,500 milligrams,
about a quarter ounce - the size of a golfball. So, rather than
use whole dried herb in the capsules, the three began testing
extraction methods to draw out the active components from the
herbs.
In researching extraction methods, they discovered two possibilities:
alcohol extraction and vinegar extraction. In the business of
herbal extracts and tinctures, nearly all of it is produced
with grain alcohol. The reason for this is that alcohol only
takes one week to complete an extraction cycle, while vinegar
takes two months. That makes vinegar extraction 8 times more
expensive to produce. The problem with using alcohol, however,
was that alcohol is by nature an anti-aphrodisiac!
About this same time, a California-based company was working
on a concentrated form of Apple Cider Vinegar, which in recent
years has become a popular weight loss alternative to diet pills
containing ephedra, caffeine or other stimulants. Regular apple
cider vinegar is not convenient to carry around all day, so
most followers of the Apple Cider Vinegar Diet use tablets instead.
But the tablets take longer to metabolize and there has been
speculation regarding whether the tablets yield all of the benefits
of the raw vinegar. The solution the west coast lab came up
with was to create a concentrated liquid vinegar. During the
concentration process (which has a patent pending), the pH of
the cider vinegar soars in acidity before it is re-standardized
to 5% prior to bottling.
This high acidity apple cider vinegar intrigued the scientists.
Could this vinegar extract the herbal properties faster than
the 8 weeks that regular vinegar required due to the higher
pH? Tests showed that the high acidity apple cider vinegar completed
the extract cycle in slightly under 6 weeks. While this was
still longer than the trio would have liked, it was still an
improvement. And, the added benefit that the concentrated apple
cider vinegar gave their aphrodisiac elixir made it even more
worthwhile.
Cobalt ACV, the fruit of their labor, was rolled out
on July 1, 2002. It has been rigorously tested and shown to
be more effective as an aphrodisiac than any individual herbal
aphrodisiac in existence. It metabolizes very quickly and provides
the added benefit of proven appetite suppression and high nutrient
content (from the acv), provides a "general sense of well
being" (gelatinized maca, ginkgo, kava, valerian, St. John's
wort, gotu kola), energy (ginseng, fo-ti, blue-green algae),
and overwhelming increase in libido (gelatinized maca, damiana,
epimedium, saw palmetto, fenugreek, anise, cramp bark).
